Curriculum News

 Dear Parents/Guardians:

     It is truly my pleasure to be your child's Kindergarten teacher this year.  I truly appreciate all your support and cooperation in helping your child to be successful in school.

   Listed below you shall find information which will help you in our classroom.

     Curriculum

        Language Arts:  We will be reviewing each of the 26 letters of the alphabet for recognition for the first few weeks.  Then we will begin with letter and sound phonemic awareness.  High Frequency Words will also be introduced and used in our classroom Reading program.

       Mathematics:  We will begin with position and sorting along with number recognition.   Our Math series will progress through counting and number patterns to 100.  Addition, subtraction, time and money, geometry and patterns will be taught through the year.

      Science and Social Studies will be taught through our Reading series themes as well as through holidays and seasons.

      Writing:  Your child will become a writer this year.  Beginning with drawing pictures and labeling to writing sentence stories, an author will emerge.

      I truly appreciate your help in reviewing the lessons taught in school through the work your child brings home daily.  If any questions arise, please don't hesitate to contact me.
